Ahold has announced it started rebannering the SPAR supermarkets acquired earlier this year to its own Albert Heijn banner; the first store rebranded will open on 3rd September 2014.
- The store layout and product ranges have been modified and the assortment now includes the own brand products such as BASIC, Albert Quality, Excellent Albert, Albert, Bio, etc.
- Shoppers are offered tastings on selected products from the own brand products from the bakery, meat and grocery departments which for a limited period will be discounted by 30%.
- Shoppers are offered a cookbook after a purchase worth CZK 300 or more.
- The opening is being promoted through leaflet distribution in the local area.
Ahold purchased 36 hypermarkets and 14 supermarkets from SPAR Czech republic earlier this year for CZK 5,245 million (EUR 191 million).
