Asda is to expand its ‘click and collect’ service across the UK hrough Click and Collect Intelligent Pods which will first launch in  London and the South East, by early 2015. The pods were designed  in association with Dutch entrepreneurs Peter Pompen and Henk Niemansverdriet and allows shoppers to collect both general merchandise and grocery items within 60 seconds from a standalone temperature controlled unit. The retailer  launched temperature-controlled lockers earlier this year at its Pudsey store, Yorkshire and expects over 10 times more orders through this service than through its current click and collect strategy.

This comes as Asda plans to open 30 new stores in 2014/15 and expects its online revenue to reach GBP 3 billion by 2018, it is already growing at more than 20% year on year.
