Auchan and Metro have signed an international purchasing agreement. The agreement includes top international FMCG brands but excludes consumer electronics.

  • Its scope extends further into non-branded food products which would be re-sold either as no-name or under each of the retailer’s private label brands.
  • The two parties stated they intend broadening the scope of the partnership into additional non-food items.

Vianney Mulliez, CEO of Auchan, stated he expects the partnership to help “broaden Auchan’s supplying markets” panel while at the same time “reinforcing Auchan’s relationship with its existing suppliers”. Olaf Koch, CEO of Metro Group stated the partnership is expected to “help optimize synergies related to common suppliers and generate economies of scale to be put to use for the ultimate benefit of our customers”.
