In the wake of merging Souq.com into Amazon.ae, the US eCommerce giant has moved quickly to introduce its subscription offer Prime to the Middle Eastern market as of 11 June 2019. The annual fee will be AED140, or AED16 per month. That translates as less than USD40 a year, substantially less than Prime pricing in the US or elsewhere.

The benefits include free next-day delivery with no minimum purchase requirements and a 50% discount for same-day delivery in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain and Ajman. Prime members can also get free 6-9 day international shipping from Amazon US for orders over AED100. The offer is clearly designed with the forthcoming Prime Day event in mind, with Amazon looking to drive uptake ahead of the event and gain a march on rivals in the region.
